Kit Carson County is located on the I-70 corridor in East Central
Colorado near the Kansas border. Encompassing 2,161 square
miles, Kit Carson County is among the State's top livestock,
wheat and corn producing counties. Founded in 1889, its
county seat is located in Burlington, Colorado at the Kit Carson
County Courthouse. 

Home to over 8,000 residents, Kit Carson County's six primary
communities offer a wide range of social and recreational
opportunities including the historic Kit Carson County Carousel
and Museum, Old Town, three golf courses, three public
swimming pools, a number of well equipped community
playgrounds and parks and the annual County Fair and PRCA
Rodeo.

...NWS Spotter Talk Scheduled for Residents of Kit Carson County...

 

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Goodland and Kit Carson County Emergency Management invite you to attend a Storm Spotter Class in Burlington.  This year’s training will be held Monday, March 20th at 6:30 pm MDT at the Burlington Ambulance Building (1576 Lowell Avenue).

 

The class is free of charge and open to anyone with an interest in High Plains weather.  This program is conducted only once a year by NWS meteorologists so consider attending this fun and educational training in Burlington.  The class will review last year’s storm highlights, discuss flash flooding, thunderstorm organization and evolution, associated clouds and their meaning, thunderstorm hazards, safety, and how to measure precipitation, snow, and ice.  For more information, contact NWS Goodland at (785) 899-7119.  A complete listing of the 2017 Spotter Training Schedule across the Tri-State Area is available on the Goodland NWS web page:  weather.gov/goodland
